‘And [it] turned into a genuinely pleasant place to work’: Auto shop supervisor unjustifiably fires employee, ends up getting fired and old employee rehired instead

A young auto shop employee tries his best to keep his head down and do the best he can at his job. He was afraid he would be fired for no reason because the supervisor was notably ornery. Luckily, this observation gave him the idea to start taking down proof every time the supervisor did something shady. Then one day the exact thing happened that he thought would, he was fired and pay withheld. He knew exactly what to do! 

 

He went to the owner of the shop, who was more notably a standup guy. He showed him all the proof of what his hired supervisor was doing and urged him to investigate. The owner did just that and couldn't believe what he found! He not only fired the supervisor, using security to throw him out, but he also rehired the employee that ornery supervisor had unjustifiably fired.

  • His office was at a different location; however, he would visit the shop mostly to collect the weekly collections.

  • He would treat the staff with complimentary snacks or small- time pizza party, etc.

  • So, I went straight to the owner. I handed him a neatly organized folder and told him everything what C did.

  • The owner assured me that I would get my job back, but asked for some time so that he could investigate the matter thoroughly.

  • We are big fans of always saving the receipts, especially in a workplace scenario. You never know what might happen! Always always get everything you discuss and agree or even disagree on in writing. It may help you immensely in the future.
